Hi There,
This is Surya.
I am working in Geo Physics. I stay in Gandhinagar and working in reputed Company on Seismology. I love write.
This blog is to share my knowledge related to Geo Physics. You can find solutions on GATE , CSIR NET and AP-SET. You can contact by leaving comments on this blog so that I can help you specific to your problem directly. I like to help you.
So... Keep reading and leave comments.
Thank you,

Whoever want to prepare seriously CSIR-NET and GATE , I think this the best blog for you. GATE and CSIR-NET exams they will follow the some pattern.
If you take GATE exam now a days it is full of problems compared to old GATE papers but same model problems we can find in different GATE papers. In this blog I'm presenting model wise and most important problems with best solutions and neat explanations.
If you take CSIR-NET exam, it will always maintain standard and you will find repeated problems are very less compared to GATE exam. Before going to write CSIR-NET we have atleast minimum knowledge on subjects whether it is Geology or Geophysics coming under Earth science.
So... Keep reading and leave comments.
Thank you,
Surya
Hi Surya! your blog has been a great help to me. can you solve gravity anamaly problems based on different shapes. it would help me a lot. thankyou in advance.
ReplyDeleteHi, already i posted some gravity related problems. some links i'm sending regrading gravity anomalies with different shapes. please see this and if you have any question please forward me.

Can you please help me to solve the following problems on Gravity Anamoly
ReplyDelete91. The gravity anomaly at a point P distant 1.0 km from the position of the maximum anomaly, along a profile across a horizontal circular cylinder, is twice the anomaly at a point 1.0 km farther away from P. The depth of the cylinder is
1. 1.0 km 2. km 3. 2 km 4. km
92. The positions of the maximum anomaly and the minimum anomaly of 183 gamma and13 gamma respectively are located at the distance coordinates 673m and 1073m respectively along a magnetic profile across a two- dimensional sheet-like body. The anomaly of value 170gamma occurs at the distance coordinate 700m. The depth of the sheet is
1. 400 m 2. 283 m 3. 141 m 4. 100 m
93. A spherical body of 1.0 km radius buried at a depth of 2.0 km produces gravity and magnetic anomalies and , respectively at a horizontal distance of 2.0 km from the position of the centre of the sphere. Another spherical body of identical physical properties and of radius 1.0 mile and depth 2.0 miles produces gravity and magnetic anomalies and , respectively at a horizontal distance of 2.0 miles from the position of its centre. Then the depth of the cylinder is

extension sit one over the other. The layer
parameters are
Layer 1: depth to top = 2000 m; thickness =
1000 m; density contrast = 0.4gm/cc
Layer 2: depth to top = 3000m; thickness = 1000m; density contrast = 0.4gm/cc.
The total gravity anomaly produced by these two layers on the surface is
1. 84 mGal 2. 42 mGal
3. 0 mGal 4. 21 mGal

ReplyDeletein case of isostatic compensation what will be crustal thickness as compared to normal crust.
which book i should prefer for General aptitude, Oceanography, Meteorology, Geology and Geophysics for csir-ugc net ?
Isostatic compensation is depends on mountain thickness.
ReplyDeleteCan you please help me solve this problem and one more thing can you suggest a book to solve these kind of geophysics problem, please.

If in low pressure centre of the northern hemisphere, winds are from the north at 10 m.s^-1 at a distance 250 km from the low pressure centre, the centrifugal force pr unit mass of air is
1. -4*10^-5 m.s^-2
2. -4*10^-4 m.s^-2
3. -4*10^-3 m.s^-2
4. -4*10^-6 m.s^-2
It is option 2. It can be done by matching the units: Force/unit mass= (m*a)/m= a.
DeleteSo, here t= Distance/velocity
= (25*10^4)/10
= 25*10^3 seconds.
a= velocity/time
= 10/(25*10^3)
= 4*10^-4 m.s^-2
Hi Sonai, this question (whatever you posted) is not related to geophysics, it is Meteorology question.
ReplyDeleteSonai, i posted solution for your question(CSIR-NET June 2018 ) please check it in my blog.
