Q.47:
A spherical body with its center located at depth of 1040 m gives a
symmetric residual gravity anomaly high with Δgmax=5.2 m
Gal. If the same anomaly were to be obtained over a 2-D horizontal
cylinder, the depth to the center of the horizontal cylinder (in m)
is........
Solution:
Sphere,
the gravity anomaly
The
depth to the center of the spherical body is
z=
0.62 X1/2 ( full width)
z=
1.3 x1/2 ( half -width)
z=
1040 m for a spherical body
half-width
(x1/2)= 1040 /1.3
= 800 m
For
a 2-D horizontal cylinder,
Depth
to the center of the body
z=
0.5 X1/2 (full width)
z=
x1/2 (half width)
The
same anomaly were to be obtained over a 2-D horizontal cylinder, the
depth to the center of the horizontal cylinder
z=
x1/2
x1/2
for a spherical body = 800 m
z=
800 m
good job man
ReplyDeleteThe gravity anamoli over a vertical rod(extending down to infinity) buried a depth of 100m is 20 mgal.If the rod is buried at a depth of 50m,the gravity anomaly would be
ReplyDeleteA. 15mgal B. 10 mgal C. 40mgal 4. 80 mgal
May i know which year CSIR or GATE question it is?

Deleteplease check full width and half width formulaes ,i think those are written wrongly ,check it onces
