Q) If quality factor of the weathered sedimentary rock is 30, wavelength of the seismic wave is 200m and velocity of the wave is 2000m/s then calculate the Inverse absorption coefficient.

    Solution:

(Thanks to Rajkumar, AKNU)

    Given values

    Quality factor (Q) = 30

    Wavelength ($\lambda$) =200m

    Velocity V =2000 m/s

Absorption coefficient $\alpha=\frac{\pi}{Q \lambda}$

Inverse of the absorption coefficient

$\alpha^{-1}(or)D=\frac{Q\lambda}{\pi}$

$D=\frac{30\times200}{3.14}$ = 1910.82m

Extra information:

 Velocity  $c=f \lambda$
